The range of CNC oil skimmers for the removal of waste or “tramp’ oil, available from
Radius Machine Tool Solutions Ltd, has recently been enhanced with the introduction of a new remote control panel which assists the operator in viewing the coolant temperature, set the unit to a desired time period, set the belt and impeller speed and finally, minutes/hours running time. It also features a 6hr delay and 1hr run (morning clean) option.
The control panel can be supplied with the latest RX 450 CNC oil skimmer which features a magnetic bracket so that it can be fitted in seconds into deeper tanks; it has a skimming stroke up to 260mm.
There are three models in the CNC RX range with the RX330 having the ability to be used either via a free-standing base or via a magnetic bracket — both are supplied as standard along with an oil separator to return ‘good’ coolant back to the machine while removing tramp oil. This can be done via either an extraction chute or a hose.
Every CNC machine tool that uses slideway oil needs to have an oil skimmer. The RX units, which are built on the proven and unique vortex inducing impeller, can be a more cost-effective and flexible option than replacing failed OEM units, or just a huge enhancement to any CNC machine that suffers from coolant contamination.
RMTS director Mark Randall said: “Since the launch of our RX model range we are confident that we have an RX packages to suit most CNC machines that suffer from tramp oil contamination. We have some customers that buy multiple units to fit on all their machines, while others like the flexibility of being able to share the unit quickly between machines.”
RMTS supplies an ‘all-inclusive’ package that gives the customer everything they need to deal with coolant contamination issues, protecting both themselves and their machine operators.”
Ian Jamieson, maintenance manager at Schoeller Bleckmann Darron, said: “We have so far purchased seven of the RX330 oil skimmers which we use across our machine shop on various machines. Having the flexibility to switch from the base stand to the magnetic bracket in such a short time is a great feature; this along with the included separator returns the ‘good’ coolant to the tank. The remote control is excellent also and we intend to purchase more units in 2022.”
