Neida boosts its capacity with two new sliding head lathesAfter a successful start to 2022 and new contract wins, Staffordshire-based Neida Products Engineering Ltd has ordered two new Star CNC sliding head machines — a 32mm diameter SR-32JIII Type B machine and an 10 diameter SL-10 — from Derby-based Star Micronics GB Ltd.

Both machines are being installed this month at the company’s head office and manufacturing facility in Stoke-on-Trent and take the total machine count within Neida to 106 — 32 of which are CNC sliding head machines.

Gareth Griffiths, Neida’s Stoke-on-Trent production manager, said: “These new machines are a welcome addition to our sliding head section. Although we already have capacity up to 42mm in diameter at our Isle of Wight production facility, the SR-32JIIIB machine offers enhanced capacity to satisfy our customers’ increasing demand in this size range.“

Neida currently has four machines within the SR-32 family; The SR-32JIII Type B is a further upgrade to the popular SR-32JII; this specification offers a range of benefits, including improved rigidity, enhanced swarf clearance and upgraded ergonomics.

Installation and training on the SL-10 machine commenced in early April, and although Neida now has five 10mm diameter CNC sliding head machines, this is the first machine from the Star SL series. This SL-10 machine suits small diameter precision turned part requirements and offers accurate, efficient machining capabilities.
