Creaform, a business unit of Ametek Inc, and a leading provider of portable 3-D measurement solutions and engineering services, has released VXelements 10. This offers a new ‘cloud licensing system’, new 3-D mesh and entity edition functions, multiple CAD imports, and compatibility of the MetraSCAN-R 3-D scanners with collaborative robots (cobots).
François Lachance, Creaform’s software product manager, said: “This new software offering sets new standards in metrology, inspection and reverse engineering. We aimed to deliver a unique, differentiated, and cutting-edge set of tools that works in complete synergy with the entire fleet of Creaform 3-D measurement solutions.”
In more detail, some of the new features and benefits found in VXelements 10 include a new cloud licensing system to facilitate license sharing between users of a given company, making it easier to maximise software investment by increasing cooperation between team members. As a result, collaborative projects can be both simpler and faster.
The upgraded VXscan module provides improvements to the ‘merge scan’ feature, resulting in better computing performance, ‘new target’ alignment, and the ability to retain the original data; while the VXmodel ‘scan-to-CAD’ module now offers a ‘flexible entity edition tool’ and a new cross-section feature (resizing of cut plans, cross-section distance and angle with ‘arbitrary entities’).
With VXinspect, end users also gain added flexibility as they can now import and use multiple CAD models. This capability facilitates working with symmetrical objects and saves time when processing assembly parts.
Furthermore, VXscan-R makes automated metrology more accessible, being part of Creaform’s offering using cobots to ‘streamline scanning cell deployments and leverage the best scanning technology using off-line programming software’.
