Rob Cullen, Roxtec's decarbonisation technical managerGreater Manchester-based
Roxtec Ltd, a leading cable and pipe seal manufacturer, has appointed Rob Cullen as its new decarbonisation technical manager. He previously held the position of power transmission and distribution manager where he has played a key role in the company’s growth within the sector.
Mr Cullen will now work closely with customers to identify and meet their needs as they embark on green energy and decarbonisation projects, using his experience in the power sector to deliver optimum sealing solutions. The role will have a specific focus on green hydrogen, battery energy storage systems, offshore wind power and carbon capture, all vital to the UK’s journey to ‘net zero’.
Roxtec is already playing its role in energy transition, working on renewable hybrid projects as well as energy storage and balancing of transmission and distribution grids. The company is also active in the wind, solar and nuclear power sectors.
Will Melvin, Roxtec’s nuclear, power and process divisional manager, said: “The creation of Rob’s new role is an investment in the future. It is in response to the increasing needs of our customers as they embark on their energy transition projects and work towards their decarbonisation goals.
“With that transition comes the need for us to respond to the demands of the new technologies they are adopting and developing. Our aim is to further support our customers and to meet their specific needs as they move forward with decarbonisation.”
Mr Melvin added: “Rob has a strong track record of delivery and in providing customers with the solutions they need. In his new role he will help to deliver further growth for the business in the power market.”
Exciting time for the sector Mr Cullen said: “I have built up strong relationships with our energy and power industry clients and I will be looking to build on those in my new role, working with them to discover their requirements and finding the solutions that really work for them. It is an exciting time for the sector and for the business.”
Roxtec’s cable and pipe seals are used to protect people and assets from multiple hazards including fire, flooding, the risk of explosion and electromagnetic disturbances. Key benefits include durability, reliability and flexibility. Its cable entry seals are ideal for field-based terminal boxes, electric heat trace cabinets, remote I/O cabinets, DCS/PLC cabinets and other high cable density applications in harsh environments.
A key benefit of using Roxtec is the Roxtec Transit Designer software, which enables users to select the right sealing solution and design hundreds of cable and pipe transits in just a few minutes. The software has more than 40,000 users worldwide helping companies reduce risk, improve safety and save engineering time.
As part of its overall support work for the energy and power sectors, Roxtec is holding a webinar on safety seals for green hydrogen projects tomorrow. Hosted by sealing specialist Gavin Cornall, it will explore the considerations that need to be made and highlight specific solutions.
The webinar will take place at 8am and 3pm (GMT) on 21 September. For more details and registration please visit the Roxtec website: (
