In April this year, the Horn Group, which is represented in the UK by Ringwood-based
Horn Cutting Tools, established a wholly owned subsidiary in Thailand — Horn Cutting Tools (Thailand) Co Ltd. The company has its headquarters in Chonburi (about 80km south-east of Bangkok) and started operations with six employees. In the short- to medium-term, a regrinding service for MCD (mono-crystalline diamond) tools will be set up in addition to the sales department.
Horn Thailand will be exhibiting at
Metalex 2023 in Bangkok from 22-25 November 2023. Commenting on trends and future issues in Thailand, Andreas Vollmer — the member of Horn’s management board responsible for worldwide sales — said: “What we have seen so far and the discussions we had during the
Metalex exhibition last year, is that machining strategies are identical to existing customer requirements that we are already familiar with, not only in Thailand but also in Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.”
Michael Mellerup, Horn Thailand’s general manager, added: “Thailand has a lot to offer in the field of machining and in my opinion great potential, especially if you are familiar with the market and know where to start. Our tooling solutions will make a positive difference to our customers in the future.
“I am convinced that Thailand is a growth market for Horn in the short, medium, and long term and that we can contribute significantly to the prosperity of our new and existing customers. The Horn Thailand team is very well prepared to provide technical product training at our new offices and pass on a high level of technical expertise to customers. Horn Thailand will also have a warehouse on site to serve the Southeast Asian market to ensure quicker and safer deliveries.”
