Schuler subsidiary Farina Presse has sold a mechanical forging press to India-based Happy Forgings Ltd, a family-run firm in Ludhiana that manufactures forged and machined components for tractors, commercial vehicles, off highway vehicles, construction equipment and railways.

Founded in 1979 with a single unit of bike crank arms, Happy Forgings has grown rapidly into India’s second largest producer of safety-critical parts such as crankshafts, with customers around the world. The new Farina mechanical forging press will soon be producing crankshafts for trucks weighing 3.5 tonnes and above.

Schuler managing director Frank Klingemann said: “This order confirms our sales strategy and strategic thrust in the forging sector — and the Indian market, with its growth figures, offers further potential on which Schuler can build.”

Schuler’s global network was crucial for Farina to win its first order from Happy Forgings, while also impressing with its innovative technology and good price-performance ratio. With the GLF 6300R, Happy Forgings is relying on the precision, rigidity, and ease of maintenance of Farina presses to continue producing durable crankshafts in the future. With a press capacity of more than 6,000 tonnes, the GLF 6300R is one of the most robust forging presses in the series.

Meanwhile, RN Gupta has ordered a Schuler DG 63h line with a press capacity of over 30,000 tonnes. The family-run company, also based in Ludhiana, has a wide range of forgings on offer, including flanges, components for the automotive and railroad industries, and pipe fittings. This represents the fourth counterblow hammer to be sold in India.

The hammer will be used to produce forgings of up to 1,000mm in diameter for global markets. RN Gupta attaches great importance to the quality of its products and therefore relies on the Schuler counterblow hammer. Among other things, it offers high impact energy and forming force, high operational reliability and availability, and exceptional rigidity, which ensures high-precision forgings.
