Make UK and WYMS join forces on Health & Safety trainingMake UK, the manufacturers’ organisation has joined forces with West Yorkshire Manufacturing Services (WYMS) to boost environmental and health & safety training in the North of England. The collaboration between the two organisations will come into force from 1 January 2024, when Make UK’s health & safety and sustainability training will be added to the services already available from WYMS to support manufacturers and engineers in the region.

Just minutes from Junction 25 of the M62, WYMS’ purpose-built facility with ‘state of the art’ training and conference technology, provides an ideal learning environment. Combined with Make UK’s experienced trainers who have industry recognised qualifications and practical experience, this partnership opens up access to the resources, expertise and facilities, to businesses throughout the North of England.

Make UK CEO Stephen Phipson (pictured) said: “This collaboration with WYMS is a great opportunity to boost the importance of sustainability and health and safety across a key industrial region. Advanced manufacturing is critical to the economy of the North and companies will have every opportunity to take advantage of this marvellous facility and partnership”.

Andrew Denford, chair of WYMS, said: “We are delighted to be working with such a trusted and experienced organisation which champions UK manufacturing. This collaboration is fantastic news for the whole of the North of England and in particular, West Yorkshire. We see this collaboration as a first step into a potentially much wider collaboration.”

Chris Newson, health & safety and sustainability director at Make UK has been an integral part of setting up the partnership and said: “We are delighted to partner with WYMS which allows us to combine the best in environment and health & safety training with a fantastic learning environment in the North of England.”

The partnership will be officially launched by Stephen Phipson at WYMS’ training facility in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, on 29 November.
