XYZ machines out in force at Southern ManufacturingDevon-based XYZ Machine Tools will be showcasing and demonstrating seven machines at Southern Manufacturing and Electronics 2024 taking place 6-8 February 2024 (Stands G260 and H260).

On display will be the recently introduced TMC toolroom machines which have been designed with low to medium volume and tool-making applications in mind. These machines use the same platform and linear rails as XYZ’s well-proven and popular LR VMC range, and feature the easy-to-use ProtoTRAK control. The range is perfect for the rapid programming and set up of one-off and small- to medium-quantity components.

The enclosed construction, automatic tool carousel and optional TRAKing hand wheels, which allow the user to run forwards and backwards through the machining cycle, deliver the advantages of a machining centre with the flexibility and quick turnround of a bed mill such as the XYZ RMX 3500, which will also feature at the show.

Cost-effective solution

For flexible manufacturing, the XYZ RMX 2-OP is a real game-changer. This machine can form part of a machining cell offering a quick and cost-effective solution for second operations to finish a part. It is easily moved and set up within 1hr so is a fast way of reconfiguring a workshop to meet changing demand.

As well as two TMC machines and the RMX 2-OP, the XYZ 800 HD vertical machining centre will be highlighted at Southern Manufacturing. This powerful machine is built for volume manufacture and comes with a Siemens 828D control with ShopMill.

Meanwhile, for turning, XYZ considers the differing requirements for low- and high-volume parts. The XYZ Proturn RLX 355 CNC lathe is is suitable for low to medium volumes, and features the ProtoTRAK control — it is a fast way of getting parts cut in a machine that offers 1,000mm between centres.

Completing the line-up will be the XYZ CT 52 LR turning centre which offers 52mm bar capacity and has linear rail technology and a Siemens 828D control.
