Westermans International Ltd — a family-owned and run global company based in Groby (Leicestershire) that specialises in buying, selling, and renting a comprehensive range of new and used welding equipment and related products from its 30,000ft
2 facilities — is taking over the UK and Ireland agency for PEI resistance welding products at the end of this month. The agency had been held by Rushden-based Sureweld (UK) Ltd, which has been owned for more than 40 years by Richard Papworth, who is retiring and closing the business.
Westermans said that having ‘shared 35 years of history’ with Mr Papworth and built a massive wealth of expertise supplying PEI welding equipment as Sureweld’s authorised re-sale partner, they have come to an agreement for Westermans ‘to take over the PEI agency for resistance welding equipment and care for their previous customers’. Westermans will now supply PEI resistance welders directly, provide support to past and future clients in the UK and Ireland, and ensure a smooth transition to current Sureweld customers.
Craig Westerman, Westerman International’s sales director, said that taking over the PEI agency was an easy decision. “We are very familiar with the machines, share the same values, and have trust in PEI’s ability to deliver exceptionally-high-quality resistance welding equipment. It is great to work directly with such a strong European manufacturer with a long history in the international market. We have worked with the company’s equipment for a long time and have seen first-hand the value that its spot, seam, and projection welders bring to small and large shops and manufacturers.
“We are looking forward to supplying automotive, appliance, aerospace, and manufacturing industries in the UK and Ireland. Every resistance welding machine delivered to a small shop, or a large production facility, improves productivity, makes the job easier, and helps businesses meet goals and serve their local or global clients and communities.”
