Zayer six-axis multi-tasking bed mill ‘to light up’ MACH 2024A large-capacity Zayer six-axis multi-tasking machine is set to be one of the largest machines that Leamington Spa-based Mills CNC, the exclusive distributor of DN Solutions’ and Zayer machine tools in the UK and Ireland, has ever showcased at MACH (Hall 19, Stand 110), taking place 15-19 April at the NEC, Birmingham.

The machine tool supplier is confident that the advanced Zayer XIOS G MT, with integrated turning capabilities, will attract visitors on the look-out for an innovative large component machining solution. The machine, one of 16 being showcased by Mills CNC, is making its UK debut at the event and will, according to company sources “not only prove to be a highlight on the Mills CNC stand but of the whole show.”

Tony Dale, Mills CNC’s CEO, said: “The XIOS G MT is a big mill-turn machine. To appreciate its size – simply visit Mills CNC’s stand — you literally can’t miss it.”

The XIOS G MT is one in a range of Zayer multi-tasking bed mills now available from Mills CNC. The machine on show at MACH 2024 will have large X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 4,000 x 1,600 x 2,000mm, and a sizeable 2,000 x 2,000mm worktable with a 12,000kg maximum table load that makes it ideal for machining big and heavy components for the aerospace, automotive, rail, energy, oil and gas sectors, as well as for large mould tool applications.

Machining flexibility is also ensured by the integration of a 1,500 x 1,500mm built-in rotary table, a powerful 40kW 6,000rev/min spindle a five-axis 45deg milling head and a generously sized automatic tool changer for up to 80 tools.

Despite its size, the XIOS G MT is fast and accurate and boasts 35m/min rapids on its X, Y and Z axes, and positional and repeatable accuracies of 0.008mm and 0.005mm respectively. Although being showcased with a 45deg head with 360,000 positions, the machine can be supplied with a 30deg head or a 33kW 18,000rev/min electro-spindle option, and a range of software apps developed in-house by Zayer to increase the machine’s potential and appeal.

Mr Dale concluded: “I am certain that the Zayer XIOS G MT will prove popular with MACH 2024 visitors and will substantiate the out-of-this-world stand theme and concept we have planned.”
