JK Designs invests in new mandrel bender from AMOB UKNottingham-based JK Design and Manufacture Ltd (JK Design), a sheet metal contractor, has invested in a new MDH-60-CN2 mandrel bender supplied by AMOB UK, Coventry, a move designed to significantly enhance its fabrication capabilities.

Prior to the installation, the company frequently required welded assemblies involving seven pieces of stainless tube, a process which it had no choice but to outsource. However, high costs and extended lead times of at least three weeks prompted JK Design to seek an in-house solution to efficiently meet its production demands.

After careful consideration, JK Design chose AMOB UK as its supplier due to the company’s outstanding service, product quality, and commitment to meeting its specific needs. According to Jackie Wilson, JK Design’s managing director, the decision was driven by AMOB UK’s dedication to ensuring satisfaction throughout the entire process.

She said: “I was impressed with the service, quality of product, and the effort to ensure that what AMOB supplied was sufficient for our needs. Futhermore, I was very impressed with the service from the start of the process, right through to delivery, installation, and training. I am also very confident that the AMOB team will provide us with a high level of ongoing support.”

Increased flexibility

The introduction of the MDH-60-CN2 machine is expected to boost JK Design’s manufacturing capabilities significantly. By bringing the fabrication process in-house, JK Design anticipates not only cost savings but also increased flexibility and customer satisfaction. The ability to respond promptly to customer demands and exercise greater control over production will have a positive impact on JK Designs future success.

Jackie Wilson continued: “Having this process in-house is a huge benefit. Not only does it excite the team (new investment and new processes to learn and add to our portfolio) but it will enable us to immediately respond to customer demands, thus offering greater customer satisfaction. Being able to control the process in-house will also yield many benefits.”

Rob Manners, service and start-up manager at AMOB UK, added: “The install went smoothly, and we are excited to see how this machine will enhance JK Design’s fabrication processes going forward.”

AMOB UK managing director Tom Wood praised the seamless execution of the project from start to finish, underscoring the collaborative efforts between JK Design and AMOB UK. He added: “We are grateful for the trust placed in us from Jackie and her team, and we are keen to see how they leverage this new capability to drive the business forward.”

AMOB UK will be exhibiting at MACH 2024 (Hall 6, Stand 380), taking place 15-19 April at the NEC, Birmingham.
