Technical Event on next generation turn/mill technologyThe Wellesbourne-based Engineering Technology Group (ETG) is set to host a Nakamura-Tome Technical Day on 11 July for manufacturers that want to explore industry-leading technology for heavy-duty cutting and multi-turret turning that offers flexibility, precision and productivity. The event is designed to help business owners identify new opportunities and to also inform shopfloor operatives on the software upgrades and productivity enhancements available for existing machine tools.

ETG will showcase a Nakamura WT150II gantry turning centre, demonstrate heavy-duty turning on a Nakamura WT300 turn/mill centre, and show how a Nakamura SC100X2 can drastically reduce cycle times for manufacturers targeting cycle-time reductions. Alongside these outstanding machines will be an introduction to Heimatec and its industry-leading solutions as well as the latest Powerstar transformers that are perfect for manufacturers looking to reduce their environmental impact while cutting energy costs.

The event will commence at 10am with registration and coffee and a presentation to introduce the Nakamura, Heimatec and Powerstar brands. ETG’s Nakamura-Tome product specialist Steve Howes will then discuss the advantages of Nakamura-Tome automation on the WT150II gantry turning centre as well as heavy-duty cutting on the Nakamura WT300, and demonstrate superimposed machining on a Nakamura SC100X2, which will also perform gear machining.

Introduction to Heimatec tooling

This will be followed by an introduction to Heimatec tooling, the very latest product lines and the synergy with Nakamura-Tome machines. It will be conducted by Oli Riley from www.hyfore.com Hyfore Workholding Ltd. He will be accompanied by special guest Dirk Hund from Heimatec. They will discuss the latest technology in driven tooling, quick-change systems and digital tool monitoring in line with Industry 4.0.

Mr Riley will also be discussing the benefits of Powerstar transformers, which ETG describes as “a great ‘green’ initiative for any business”. These amorphous core transformers are ideal for most new and used machine tools and will save energy usage and money.

The insightful presentations will be followed by live demonstrations on the three machines with delegates having the opportunity to discuss the technologies with ETG’s engineers. Following the presentations and demonstrations, they will have an open forum to ask further questions while networking with like-minded engineers at the event.

The day will also include technologies such as ‘oscillating cut’, ‘triangular cut’, ‘jump programming and load monitoring of heavy-duty cutting on the Nakamura machines while Heimatec innovations will include gear hobbing, thread whirling and digital tool monitoring.
