Insphere boosts sales by integrating simulation softwareBristol-based Insphere, a leader in advanced metrology solutions, has boosted its sales processes and enhanced customer engagement by integrating simulation software from Visual Components. The collaboration allows the organisation to create precise simulations of its IONA system, a network of photogrammetry sensors (nodes) which provides precise 6DoF (6deg of freedom) positional data to automated manufacturing processes that use industrial robots, enabling real-time updates to robot programs and processes.

Insphere previously struggled to accurately simulate nodes in automation cells with traditional CAD packages, but the Visual Components software has bridged this gap with robust simulation capabilities that provides the detail and accuracy in planning that is essential for building customer confidence in its high-tech automation solutions.

The Insphere sales team uses the simulation software to devise the optimal number of nodes for specific customer applications, enabling efficient and tailored recommendations. The placement of nodes and targets within robot cells can be visualised and tested in a virtual environment, guaranteeing visibility and precise measurement data capture. Visualisations have also helped to make proposals more understandable for non-technical people and compelling and credible during tender processes, helping to secure buy-in from senior management.

Furthermore, free online resources from the Visual Components Academy have helped the Insphere team learn how to fully utilise the simulation software. The accessibility and user-friendliness of the platform has allowed engineers of all technical abilities to quickly become proficient in developing and implementing advanced metrology solutions.

Philip Silk, operations manager at Insphere, said: “Simulation capabilities from Visual Components have allowed our team to operate more efficiently and focus on delivering high-quality solutions to our customers. It has become an indispensable tool. Looking ahead, we are planning to develop additional tools within the Visual Components’ software that enable us to test set ups and predict performance values to meet specific customer needs.”

Visual Components’ CEO Mikko Urho concluded: “Insphere’s innovative use of Visual Components’ software to streamline development and deliver tailored, efficient solutions to their customers is a perfect example of how advanced simulation can drive real-world success. We are excited to continue supporting the company’s efforts as it develops even more sophisticated applications within our platform.”
