Japanese machine tool manufacturer
Okuma, a leading manufacturer of CNC machine tools, has developed
Connect Plan, a solution for the convenient networking, monitoring, analysis and optimisation of entire machine fleets. To accomplish this, the machines are simply connected to the network server via the integrated CNC control OSP, and monitoring is initiated. Machine status and data and the latest methods quickly reveal new production potential.
Connect Plan provides accurate information about the current state of production along with details of each machine on a PC, large displays in production and the office, or a tablet when you are on the way. The green light icon on the digital factory map indicates that a machine is running smoothly, while the yellow icon indicates an interruption of operation, and the red indicates an alarm requiring intervention. In addition, Connect Plan provides insights into efficiency and detailed alarm information from the previous days, weeks and months, allowing the identification and resolution of long-term problems and issues. This is supported by linking the alarm history to the alarm manual.
Analysis functions are another key aspect of Connect Plan. Data on machine status, operating history and alarm history are analysed in daily reports, identifying unwanted machine stops and highlighting areas for improvement. Controller data, such as the NC program used, tools or applications, log data, inspection data on machine parts, data on individual machining tasks, and so on, can all be easily analysed.
Connect Plan also uses the recorded machine and machining data to identify suitable maintenance windows for tank cleaning, filter changes, etc. The AI Machine Diagnostic function can diagnose the machine status at the touch of a button to prevent feed axis problems before they occur. An estimate of tool life is provided directly to the OSP control system, which reduces downtime.
