Technical sales manager appointed at Samuel TaylorPeter Chan, new technical sales manager at STL

Redditch-based Samuel Taylor Ltd (STL), a specialist in bi-metal bonding and precision stamping within the electrical contact market, has announced the appointment of Peter Chan as technical sales manager.

Mr Chan joins STL following a three-year spell as technical sales manager for Durr Universal. He brings with him a wealth of technical and research and design (R&D) experience, having previously worked as R&D technologist for Cookson Group plc and R&D engineer for Johnson Matthey — in addition to project management roles at Sandvik and Electrical Component International Ltd. Furthermore, he has a PhD in colour, chemistry and dying from the University of Leeds and in 2016 secured a patent for methods to produce a sintered composite body.

STL manufactures strip products, welded contacts, headed parts and precision stamped components. The company specialises in the bonding of bi-metals such as AlCu (bonded aluminium and copper strip for use within the development of battery busbar technology), and SilCu (bonded silver and copper strip and foil), for use with electro technic and circuit protection markets.

STL’s director Robert Gordon said: “We are delighted to welcome Peter to the STL team as our technical sales manager. Know-how, or procedural knowledge is what separates STL from most other SME engineering businesses. Peter’s research experience, discipline for project management and problem-solving, combined with his specialist knowledge, is a great addition to the existing experience within the company.”

Mr Chan concluded: “I am excited to work with the STL team and look forward to bringing my previous experiences and learnings to help grow the business further.”
