Sandvik’s Osprey line of products has passed an impressive milestone of 50 years of being manufacturing at the company’s Neath site in the UK where it produces the market’s widest range of gas atomised metal powders and a unique range of controlled expansion (CE) alloys.
Over the past five decades, the unit in Neath has grown from its humble beginnings to utilise its proprietary atomising technology to become a world-leading manufacturer of gas-atomised metal powders and CE alloys.
Andrew Coleman, vice president of Sandvik’s additive manufacturing (AM) business unit, said:
“This milestone is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and innovation of all employees, partners, and customers who have been part of the journey. It demonstrates Sandvik’s long-term experience that makes us a trusted partner for customers in areas such as AM and metal injection moulding (MIM), serving customers in a wide range of demanding industries.”
Today, the Neath production site is the cornerstone of Sandvik’s metal powder manufacturing capability. The Osprey range of metal powders is the broadest on the market with over 2,000 different alloys specialising in fine and mid-fraction sizes.
This atomising technology also enables Sandvik to manufacture its range of HIPped CE alloys suitable for various applications, including those with extreme temperature variations. This latest milestone highlights Sandvik”s proven heritage and capacity to deliver materials and components to some of the most demanding industries, reinforcing its position as a leader in innovation and manufacturing excellence.
