SMS group, led by CEO Jochen Burg, visited Tan Chengxu, chairman and party secretary of
Ansteel group. Together, they witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations. Both companies affirmed their commitment to collaborate on ‘dual-carbon’ initiatives, focusing on carbon peak and neutrality goals.
They aimed to deepen cooperation in products, technologies, and projects to advance and innovate ‘green’ steel technologies, thereby supporting the sustainable development of the global steel industry. The MoU was signed by the head of Ansteel group’s strategic planning department and Peter Langner, president and CEO of SMS group China, representing their respective companies. Prior to the signing ceremony, both parties engaged in discussions.
Tan Chengxu expressed gratitude for the long-standing support from SMS. He emphasised that decarbonisation is the cornerstone of high-quality development. Currently, Ansteel is prioritising ecological operations and focusing on production efficiency and low-carbon development, accelerating the construction of a greener Ansteel.

Ansteel group is eager to collaborate with SMS to honour their shared commitment to sustainable development by actively exploring and implementing new green steel technologies. Mr Burg thanked Ansteel for its unwavering support of SMS and the long-term cooperative relationship. He noted that Ansteel, with its rich historical heritage and profound cultural background, is a leading global steel producer. Signing this MoU with Ansteel is a significant step for SMS in realising its vision of promoting green and sustainable development of the steel industry. He hopes that the two companies will further deepen exchanges and cooperation, creating more green steel manufacturing solutions and setting new benchmarks for global steel enterprises together.
