Capacity enhanced with fourth dip-spin lineWolverhampton Electro Plating (WEP), a leading metal finishing specialist, has significantly increased its capacity and enhanced its services by investing in a fully automated robotic dip-spin line. The new zinc flake coatings dip-spin line is now installed and in full production as the business continues to expand its services.

The addition of a fourth dip-spin line at the company has increased processing capacity by around six tons per hour, allowing WEP to handle larger volumes and provide improved turnround times for new and existing customers. The new machinery also gives WEP greater flexibility in its operations and enables the business to plan a variety of finishes more effectively. Fewer changeovers and reduced idle time per machine mean a more streamlined process.

WEP’s general manager Denis Rainbird said: “This new dip-spin line represents a significant investment for the business as we continue to lead the industry in zinc flake coatings. It demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering the highest standards of quality and corrosion resistance our customers expect. We now have four dip-spin lines in operation, offering large capacity and flexibility. The new line also provides additional backup capacity to ensure uninterrupted service, even in the event of unexpected downtime.”

WEP is part of the Anochrome Group, which is the only UK-based company offering all the zinc flake based paint plating systems from leading suppliers, including NOF (Geomet), Magni, DÖRKEN and PPG (Xylan). It has been a significant period of growth for WEP having purchased two divisions of The Electrolytic Plating Company Limited (EPC) towards the end of last year.

The acquisition saw EPC employees and machinery transfer to WEP, significantly increasing the business' market share. WEP works with some of the biggest tier 1 suppliers into OEMs in the automotive, construction, rail, petrochemical, wind energy, highways and commercial vehicle sectors and holds numerous accreditations, including ITAF 16949:2016, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
