Christoph Schell has been appointed as the new CEO of www.kuka.com KUKA AG effective from 1 July following the departure of Peter Mohnen who is leaving the company at his own request after 13 years on the KUKA Executive Board. Mr Schell is a highly experienced manager and has extensive knowledge of the high-tech sector and innovative future technologies. The German businessman has held senior management positions worldwide for HP, Philips and Intel, where he was responsible for 3-D printing and digital manufacturing.

Most recently he was CCO and Board Member for sales, marketing and communications at Intel Corporation, based in California. He brings with him a wealth of expertise in many areas including computing, AI and software, which are also fundamental to the further development of the automation and robotics industry.

Mr Schell has already been a member of the KUKA Supervisory Bdoard and chairman of the Board’s strategy and technology committee since the beginning of 2023 and as a result is very familiar with the company and its global business. KUKA Supervisory Board chairman Andy Gu said: "We are delighted to have found an accomplished and internationally experienced top manager in Christoph Schell as our new KUKA CEO."

Mr Schell, who has lived in the USA for over 10 years, previously spent many years in Asia and knows the global markets that are so important for the ambitions of KUKA AG. He said: “I am enthusiastic about the global spectrum and success of the KUKA Group and convinced of the growth prospects, which will change the world of work and daily life through the interplay of robotics, automation and AI. It is an honour for me to drive this development forward as KUKA’s global CEO. I am looking forward to working with the KUKA team.”

Outgoing CEO Peter Mohnen, who is leaving at his own request, said: “I look back on my time at KUKA with pride and gratitude. Together with our customers and partners, we have helped shape automation worldwide, overcoming challenges and driving forward innovations that will shape KUKA Group’s strategy in the years to come.”
