Easee selected by The AA for EV patrol fleetEasee, a ‘smart’ EV charging company, has been selected by The AA as its preferred home charging partner to support the UK’s largest roadside assistance provider in transitioning its patrol fleet from diesel to electric vehicles (EVs). The strategic partnership highlights Easee’s position as a trusted supplier of scalable, data-smart charging solutions for professional fleets to maximise uptime and operational efficiency.

As part of a four-year test-and-learn programme, The AA is rolling out plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV) to better understand operational needs, from charging logistics to back-office integration. Following an initial trial phase, Easee chargers were chosen over alternatives thanks to their superior data reliability, ease of use, accurate billing, and robust performance.

Sam Levy, regional sales director (UK & Ireland) at Easee, said: “We are delighted to partner with such an iconic organisation as The AA on its journey to ‘net zero’. Electrifying a patrol fleet presents complex challenges, and we are proud that our smart charging solution is playing a key role in making the transition straighforward, for both the business and its drivers.”

Thanks to the seamless integration between Easee’s smart chargers and the Rightcharge platform, The AA has been able to electrify its patrol fleet with minimal disruption. The system automatically retrieves charging data from the Easee unit and facilitates direct reimbursement to the energy supplier, eliminating manual admin and billing errors.

Maintaining operational efficiency

This streamlined process ensures that drivers are fairly and accurately compensated for home charging, making it easier for The AA to scale its EV operations while maintaining operational efficiency across the fleet. The AA’s breakdown fleet driver feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, citing the charger’s intuitive design, remote app control, and ability to schedule off-peak charging.

Duncan Webb, head of fleet at The AA, said: “Our partnership with Easee is helping us understand the practicalities of operating electric patrol vehicles at scale. Their technology has proven to be reliable, easy for our drivers to use, and importantly, provides accurate energy data to support our reimbursement process.”

By enabling at-home charging for its patrols, The AA is ensuring minimal disruption to roadside operations while preparing for the broader implications of the UK’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate. The collaboration with Easee supports The AA’s commitment to achieve ‘net zero’ emissions across its operations by 2035.

With over 870,000 home installations across Europe, Easee’s solutions are already powering the electrification of households, businesses, and fleets and now, one of the UK’s most recognised vehicle fleets.
