Aurrigo to accelerate growth with £14.1 million funding boostCoventry-based Aurrigo International plc, an autonomous transport specialist, has secured £14.1 million in new funding to accelerate its growth and expand its manufacturing capabilities. This includes a £9.75 million strategic investment from Next Gen Mobility, alongside additional support from existing and new shareholders through a share placing.

The company, which currently supplies autonomous solutions to seven airports worldwide, will use the capital to scale production, build multiple demonstrator vehicles, and relocate to a larger engineering and manufacturing facility in Coventry. The expansion will also support a significant increase in headcount, with plans to grow beyond its current 110-strong workforce to meet rising demand and prepare for new deployments.

Aurrigo’s product range includes the Auto-DollyTug, designed for autonomous baggage handling; Auto-Shuttle, for passenger transport; and Auto-Cargo, its largest model to date, engineered for cargo operations. These solutions are supported by Auto-Sim, a digital simulation platform that enables airports to model and optimise airside operations.

Autonomous ground-handling equipment

The company recently announced a global pilot with Swissport at Zurich Airport, marking its first international deployment of autonomous ground-handling equipment. The trial will evaluate the operational performance of Auto-DollyTug and Auto-Sim in a live airport environment, as Swissport explores next-generation intelligent Ground Service Equipment (iGSE).

Aurrigo’s CEO Professor David Keen said the funding will provide the firepower needed to scale operations and bring its autonomous aviation technologies to market. He also confirmed that discussions are underway with Next Gen Mobility around future UK-based projects involving pod and rapid passenger transport systems.

In addition, Aurrigo is exploring the establishment of an offshore manufacturing base to support entry into South Asian and Southeast Asian aviation markets. With autonomous technologies gaining traction across the aviation sector, Aurrigo’s latest investment marks a significant step forward in its mission to deliver scalable, intelligent transport solutions for ground handling and passenger mobility.
