GKN Automotive has achieved the highest accolade from
EcoVadis, securing a Platinum rating for sustainability and placing the company in the top 1% of more than 150,000 businesses assessed worldwide. This marks a significant milestone in its sustainability journey, having progressed from Bronze in 2022 to Gold in 2024 and now Platinum in 2025.
The company scored 100 out of 100 in six of seven environmental categories and achieved an overall score of 86. The rating reflects measurable progress, including a 30% reduction in direct CO₂e emissions (Scope 1 and 2) compared to the previous year, improvements in annual sustainability reporting, and a strengthened sustainable procurement programme with on-site ESG audits for key suppliers. Sustainable procurement saw a notable 16-point year-on-year improvement.
Dr Clare Wyatt, chief people, communications and sustainability officer at GKN Automotive, said: “This Platinum rating reflects strong progress on our sustainability targets, collective team effort, and the embedding of sustainable practices across the business.”
GKN Automotive, part of
Dowlais Group plc, supplies 90% of major automotive manufacturers worldwide and employs around 24,000 people across 21 countries. The company says its mission is to “drive a cleaner, more sustainable world” and support the transition to ‘net zero’.
