London-based thermoforming machinery specialist
Ridat has supplied a customised version of its largest roller-cutting press to
Daventry Thermoforming UK Ltd, enabling the automotive industry supplier to handle larger and more complex projects.
Daventry Thermoforming, established in 1992, manufactures PVC and high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) protective coverings for luxury car brands and blister packaging for the DIY sector. The company already operates several Ridat thermoforming machines and turned to the manufacturer for a solution to trim larger coverings for components such as doors and centre consoles.
Ridat supplied its 546RCP roller cutting press (pictured), which features two solid pressure rollers of 125mm made from tool steel and is designed to trim a wide range of materials. To meet Daventry Thermoforming’s requirements, the machine was adapted to double the maximum roller gap from 150 to 300mm, allowing the cutting of larger parts. Ridat drew on more than 60 years of experience in gearing systems to achieve this modification.
Bespoke solutionTony Lewis, managing director at Daventry Thermoforming UK, said: “It is always a pleasure to work with Ridat. The team have taken the time to get to know us as a company and worked with us to develop a bespoke solution that will enable us to fulfil larger and more complex part production for our customers, all while maintaining speed and quality, which are key considerations in the industries we work in. I look forward to working with the team again in the future.”
Dipak Sen Gupta, director at Ridat, added: “This is another example of how the Ridat team are able to design and manufacture bespoke machinery for our customers. I am very grateful for Daventry Thermoforming for trusting us to develop a machine that pushes the current maximum capabilities of our largest roller cutting press. I am delighted that through the engineering skills of our people and the quality of our machines we are able to continue to deliver equipment to support a wide range of markets, and while maintaining affordability, quality and safety.”
Daventry Thermoforming also operates one Ridat 4848ATF large format thermoforming machine and four Ridat 3035ATF machines, all featuring twin ovens, double-acting guillotines, and dual ceramic heaters for processing a variety of thermoformable materials. Ridat’s product range includes roller cutting presses, vacuum formers, automatic thermoforming cut-and-stack systems, pressure-forming machines, and blister sealing presses.
