Spain-based
Applus+ IDIADA has confirmed it will exhibit at
Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe Conference, which takes place on 8–9 September 2026 at Fira de Barcelona, Spain. The company operates one of Europe’s most comprehensive battery testing centres, with a ‘state of the art’ battery safety laboratory covering more than 2,000m
2 in Tarragona. This facility is among the largest and most advanced battery abuse testing sites worldwide, making Applus+ IDIADA a key partner for automotive manufacturers and battery developers during the transition to electrification.
Ken Davies,
Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe Conference programme director, said: “Comprehensive battery testing is a crucial element for building a robust and resilient energy storage ecosystem in Europe. Confirmation that Applus+ IDIADA will be exhibiting at the show underscores the importance of building a robust continental supply chain for battery energy storage, independent of suppliers in the Far East.”
Natalia Artal, senior manager, e-Powertrain, battery systems at Applus+ IDIADA, said: “The
Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe Conference represents an ideal platform for us to connect with the energy storage and battery innovation community. Our new battery safety laboratory revolutionises battery testing by combining cutting-edge research with disruptive technologies to create the testing protocols of tomorrow.”
Sustainability strategiesThe Applus+ IDIADA facility offers a full range of safety and durability tests, including thermal propagation, fire resistance, drop tests, crush tests and water immersion scenarios. Advanced environmental protection systems, such as gas scrubbing and water treatment, are integrated into the laboratory, aligning with sustainability strategies derived from rigorous testing processes.
The
Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe Conference will focus on next-generation battery applications, bridging European innovation with sectors beyond electric vehicles, including grid-scale storage, aerospace and maritime electrification. The event is expected to attract thousands of energy professionals, engineers, entrepreneurs and investors to one of Europe’s most dynamic technology hubs.
Visitors to the Applus+ IDIADA stand will be able to learn more about its testing capabilities, discuss project requirements and explore partnership opportunities for battery development and validation programmes.
