Northern Industries Group acquires Landguard EngineeringNorthern Industries has announced the acquisition of Landguard Engineering, a specialist engineering company in Essex renowned for its expertise in acoustic containerised solutions, data centre plant room systems, and bespoke fabrication for industrial and energy applications.

Based in Harwich, Landguard Engineering offers end-to-end capabilities including in-house design with 3-D modelling and CFD analysis, workshop fabrication, and the production of custom acoustic enclosures, explosion control containers, and ventilation attenuation systems. The company’s innovative approach and attention to detail have earned it a strong reputation for technical excellence and reliability across diverse sectors.

The acquisition significantly broadens Northern Industries’ engineering and manufacturing footprint and strengthens its ability to deliver integrated solutions across its existing portfolio of companies, which includes the Steelway Family, CEL Sheet Metal, and JHT Engineering.

Paul Sweeting, Northern Industries Group’s CEO, said: “We are delighted to welcome Landguard Engineering into the Northern Industries Group. The company’s reputation for quality engineering, precision manufacturing and innovative acoustic solutions aligns perfectly with our values and ambitions. Landguard’s expertise complements our existing businesses and further strengthens our position as a leading multi-disciplinary engineering group.

“The acquisition of Landguard Engineering represents the start of a wider M&A strategy for the Group focused on adding a broader capability across increasingly diverse marketplaces. This will also expand our reach as a Group, having a facility based in the south of the UK to complement our existing five operational sites across the Midlands and in the Northeast. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring both in expanding our technical capabilities and access to markets across Europe.”

Landguard Engineering will continue to operate under its established name and management team, working closely with other Northern Industries businesses to share knowledge, skills and resources. The company will maintain its strong focus on bespoke, high-performance engineering solutions while benefitting from the wider support and scale of the Group.

By bringing Landguard’s technical expertise into the Group, Northern Industries enhances its offerings to customers in high-integrity sectors including energy, infrastructure and mission-critical markets. With the addition of Landguard, the Group’s combined turnover is expected to reach £40 million in 2025, growing from £8.5 million in its first reporting year in 2021 — underscoring its continued success and strategic expansion across the UK engineering and manufacturing landscape.

Northern Industries pic 3Peter Etherden, managing director of Landguard Engineering, commented: “This rebrand and launch represents the evolution of Landguard Engineering — not a change in who we are, but a bold step forward in how we present our expertise. Over the past decade, we have built a strong reputation in acoustic and ventilation systems, and this refreshed identity reflects our growth, capability and confidence in the future.

As part of the Northern Industries Group, we are able to build on our heritage while embracing the new opportunities the scale and additional expertise available to us from the wider Group will present in strengthening our offering for years to come.

This merger reinforces our commitment to leading the way in innovative design and manufacturing. By combining our expertise and resources, we are now able to deliver fully integrated, end-to-end solutions that drive greater efficiency and performance across every stage of a project. Together, our shared strength positions us to support some of the UK and Europe’s most complex and demanding infrastructure and energy developments, setting a new benchmark for quality and collaboration in the industry.”

With a new visual identity and website, Landguard Engineering is looking firmly to the future, continuing to deliver innovative acoustic, ventilation and steel fabrication systems that meet the challenges of tomorrow’s industries.
