Production of
SEAT’s new Ibiza and Arona models has begun at the company’s Martorell plant near Barcelona, with the first vehicles scheduled to reach the market in January 2026. Both models have been designed, developed and manufactured at SEAT’s ‘state of the art’ facility, and feature refreshed styling, updated interiors, a choice of efficient TSI petrol engines, enhanced standard equipment, and advanced safety systems.
Markus Haupt, CEO of SEAT and CUPRA, said: “The SEAT Ibiza and Arona are true success stories, fundamental to our line-up and the brand’s growth. As two of SEAT’s most iconic models, they have played a key role in driving urban mobility and have been essential to the brand’s success. The start of production of these vehicles represents an important milestone for our factory in Martorell which is advancing to become a flexible, multi-brand plant, equipped with all the necessary technologies to build cars that offer a wide range of choices for our customers.”
Enhanced production processesJose Arreche, director of the SEAT and CUPRA plants in Martorell and Barcelona, added: “The production of the Ibiza and Arona reinforces Martorell's position as a plant ready to face the challenges of the future. This milestone reflects the extraordinary effort of our entire team to ensure that both models hit the streets at the beginning of 2026. At the same time, we have enhanced our production processes, delivering greater precision and efficiency to guarantee the highest quality standards.”
The launch of these updated models underlines SEAT’s commitment to expanding its range as it prepares for the electrified era. Mild-hybrid versions of the Ibiza and Arona are planned for 2027, followed by a full hybrid powertrain for the SEAT Leon in 2028 and further updates to the Leon and Leon Sports tourer in 2029. SEAT continues to support its global dealer network, which includes more than 1,400 sales points and 3,000 service centres, and has introduced a refreshed visual identity to keep the brand vibrant and relevant.
Since its debut in 1984, the Ibiza has sold over six million units across five generations, while the Arona, launched in 2017, has achieved more than 750,000 sales. Both models are now available in SEAT’s online configurator in nine key markets, including Spain, France, Italy, Germany and the UK.
