Casa dos Ventos, one of Brazil’s largest renewable energy companies, has entered a new stage in its partnership with
Vestas, the global leader in wind energy solutions, with an order for 828MW of capacity for the Dom Inocêncio wind complex. The project will be located in the south-central region of Piauí, a state recognised for its strong wind resources and rapid growth as a renewable energy hub.
The development will comprise 184 V150-4.5MW turbines, reinforcing an eight-year collaboration between the two companies and contributing to the sustainable expansion of Brazil’s energy matrix. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with final commissioning expected in 2028. Vestas will supply the turbines, manage construction, and provide operation and maintenance services for 25 years under an Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.
Representing an investment of more than BRL 5 billion, the Dom Inocêncio complex will rank among Brazil’s largest wind projects, generating enough energy to power around two million homes. The scheme will strengthen Brazil’s energy security, increase the share of renewables in the national mix, and support socio-economic development in Piauí. It is expected to create more than 8,500 direct and indirect jobs during construction and operation, stimulate local supply chains, and deliver benefits through technical services, engineering, innovation, and professional training.
Lucas Araripe, executive director of Casa dos Ventos, said: “Through our partnership with Vestas, we are bringing solutions that deliver the reliability and performance required for a project of this magnitude. This new agreement is yet another demonstration of our commitment to supporting the expansion of Brazil’s renewable energy matrix. In addition to driving the country’s energy transition, our investment will also significantly boost the socio-economic development of the region.”
Eduardo Ricotta, president of Vestas for Latin America, concluded: “Receiving Casa dos Ventos’ trust once again for a project of this magnitude is a great source of pride for us. Casa dos Ventos is a key player in expanding renewable generation in Brazil. It is an honour to support a partner that shares the same ambition: to develop projects that drive the energy transition, expand access to clean energy, and foster socio-economic growth in the regions where they operate.”
