TaeguTec expands UK team with new technical sales engineerTaeguTec UK has appointed Alan Ryden as its new technical sales engineer for Scotland, signalling the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the UK market. The appointment represents a significant investment in building stronger customer relationships and accelerating growth throughout Scotland.

Mr Ryden brings over 30 years’ industry experience to the role, combining hands-on technical expertise with extensive commercial knowledge. A time-served mechanical engineer who completed his apprenticeship in heavy engineering in Clydebank, he spent seven years working in the gas turbine industry before progressing through various manufacturing roles, including the pulp and paper sector.

Most significantly for TaeguTec, Mr Ryden has worked with the company's products for 15 years, having joined ABT in 2010 as an area sales manager covering West, Central and parts of East Coast of Scotland. During his tenure at ABT, Alan progressed from field sales to managing director, running the business until November 2024. This extensive experience with TaeguTec's cutting tool range, combined with his deep understanding of the Scottish manufacturing landscape, positions him ideally to drive business development in the region.

Innovative solutions

Mr Ryden said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining TaeguTec. Having worked with their products for 15 years as a distributor, I understand the quality and performance capabilities of the range. My goal is to position TaeguTec where the product deserves to be in Scotland. I have an established network and reputation throughout Scotland, and I am confident we can achieve significant growth by leveraging those relationships while introducing manufacturers to TaeguTec's innovative solutions."

The appointment reflects TaeguTec UK Ltd’s strategic focus on strengthening its direct presence in key UK regions. Scotland represents a substantial manufacturing base spanning aerospace, oil and gas, renewable energy, and general engineering sectors, all of which require high-performance cutting tools for demanding applications. By appointing an experienced professional with established customer relationships and proven product knowledge, TaeguTec is investing in long-term growth rather than simply filling a vacancy.

Steph Taylor, TaeguTec UK Ltd’s general manager, concluded: “Alan’s appointment represents exactly the kind of investment in people that we believe is essential for sustainable growth. His technical background gives him credibility with customers, while his commercial experience and existing relationships in Scotland provide an immediate platform for business development. After 15 years working with our products, Alan understands what TaeguTec can deliver, and we are excited to support him in growing our presence in the Scottish manufacturing sector.”
