Cycling to work — 39,000km cycled, 10,000 euros donated Germany-based ALLTEC/FOBA, a global leader in laser marking solutions for sectors including medical technology, electronics, and automotive, once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility last year through its annual ‘Cycle to Work’ campaign. Now in its third year, the initiative reflects the company’s core values of responsibility, team spirit, and environmental awareness — not only in its technology but also in everyday life.

The campaign, which ran from 1 May to 30 September 2025, encouraged employees to cycle to work and pledge their kilometres towards a collective goal. For every kilometre ridden, management donated 0.20 euros to charity. This year, participation increased significantly, resulting in a record-breaking total of 39,057km — 6% above the team’s target. Together with private contributions from employees who were unable to cycle, the donation amount reached 5,000 euros.

Peter Maletzki, salesforce administrator at ALLTEC and the campaign’s initiator, explained: “Last year, we were able to attract even more participants and thus increase the donation amount once again. What made the year special was that, in order to round up the ‘odd’ donation amount, employees who were unable to cycle for various reasons also made private donations at the end of the campaign.”

Safety was a priority throughout the initiative, with bicycle safety training offered to all participants. Weekly surprise bags containing snacks, drinks, and cycling accessories added an element of fun and motivation. The funds raised will be split between two charitable organisations — the Nature Conservation Foundation (Stiftung Naturschutz Schleswig-Holstein) and the Leuchtturm e.V. Children’s and Youth Hospice Support Association (Förderverein Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Leuchtturm e.V.). Donations were presented by managing director Richard Roth and Peter Maletzki on 17 and 18 December.

Mr Roth concluded: “I am proud of our employees' commitment. With this campaign, we have not only made a contribution to climate protection, but also demonstrated how strong our team spirit is. Health, sustainability, and social responsibility are values that we live by at ALLTEC — and that set us apart as a company.”
