Starlux Airlines of Taiwan has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000, the largest variant of the A350 family, becoming the 11th operator worldwide of this model. The aircraft joins Starlux’s existing fleet of 10 A350-900s, which are deployed on long-haul routes from Taipei to Europe and North America, as well as selected destinations within the Asia-Pacific region.

To mark the arrival of its newest fleet member, Starlux has introduced a distinctive livery that combines the airline’s signature design elements with a carbon-fibre motif, symbolising the advanced composite materials used in the aircraft’s construction. The fuselage prominently displays the figure ‘1000’, underscoring the aeroplane’s status as the largest in-production Airbus model and Starlux’s new flagship.

Starlux currently operates an all-Airbus fleet comprising the A321neo, A330-900 and A350-900. The addition of the A350-1000 will complement this line-up, while the airline has also placed orders for 10 A350F freighters to support the development of its cargo network.

Operational efficiencies

The A350 is widely regarded as the most modern wide-body aircraft in service, setting new benchmarks for intercontinental travel. Its design incorporates advanced aerodynamics and cutting-edge technologies, delivering significant operational efficiencies and enhanced passenger comfort.

Airbus states that “the A350’s new-generation engines and lightweight materials provide a 25% advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and CO2 emissions compared to previous-generation competitor aircraft.”

The aircraft features the spacious Airspace cabin, with wide seats, high ceilings and ambient lighting designed to improve the passenger experience. As with all Airbus aircraft, the A350 is certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and Airbus is targeting full 100% SAF capability by 2030. At the end of November 2025, the A350 programme had secured nearly 1,500 orders from 66 customers worldwide.
