Supreme thread mills with 90-degree countersink

Posted on 05 Feb 2026. Edited by: John Hunter.
Supreme thread mills with 90-degree countersinkWalter has launched its new TC620 Supreme multi-row thread milling cutter featuring a 90deg countersink chamfer and Walter DeVibe anti-vibration geometry — this is the first time the benefits of multi-row thread milling cutters have been combined with an integrated countersinking function.

Compared with conventional thread milling solutions, this new innovation has the ability to undertake parallel machining of several thread sections with exceptionally high process reliability of the multi-row thread milling cutters due to lower displacement forces. Additionally, the new thread mills provide easy handling thanks to its rare radius corrections.

Furthermore, productivity and time savings are significantly improved as countersinking and threading can be undertaken in the same operation with the same tool. In addition to the separate countersinking tool that would otherwise be required, the user also saves changeover time, storage capacity and space in the tool magazine.

Operational smoothness

Like the Walter thread milling series without the countersink chamfer, the TC620 Supreme with 90deg countersink chamfer also features Walter’s patented DeVibe anti-vibration geometry. This significantly increases operational smoothness and prevents ‘chatter marks’ while improving thread quality significantly. The multi-row design reduces cutting forces and guarantees high dimensional accuracy of the tool.

The internal coolant supply optimises chip removal, which permits users to run the tool at a high feed per tooth. This culmination of attributes ensures reliable machining even under extreme conditions. Walter offers the combination tool with 2XDN in all standard diameters from M3 to M20 and in all common thread profiles such as metric, metric fine, UNC/UNF and others. Users can therefore benefit from high-process reliability and low cost per thread in a wide range of applications with impressive tool life and machining time reductions of up to 50%.
