New machines at Citizen Open House Visitors to the Open House being held 8-10 October by Bushey- based Citizen Machinery UK Ltd (www.citizenmachinery.co.uk), will see four machines that are new to the UK and feature the latest developments in turn-milling on CNC sliding-head and fixed-head lathes.

Significant for users of fixed-head machines is the UK launch of the 42mm bar-capacity Miyano BNA-42GTY turning centre, which accommodates up to 45 tools, can cut with three tools simultaneously and reduce non-cutting times by up to 27%. Moreover, the machine has the benefit of a Y axis on its eight-station turret.

Also on show will be the fourth generation of Citizen’s top-of-the-range M-Series machines, being shown for the first time in a 16mm-capacity version. Meanwhile, the totally new L12 has a removable guide bush for optimised performance on both long and short components, while the L20-Xll offers both a B axis and a Y axis and can interpolate different axes during the machining cycle.

Altogether, 10 machines will be demonstrating different aspects of turn-milling technology throughout the Open House, which will welcome visitors between 8.30am and 5pm each day. There is a curry evening (from 6pm) on Wednesday 9 October.
