Mammoet to partner with Seatrium on TenneT 2GW

Mammoet to partner with Seatrium on TenneT 2GWMammoet has reached an agreement with Seatrium to undertake the load‑out operations for three sub-stations being built for TenneT’s 2GW programme, which will connect new offshore wind developments in the North Sea to mainland Europe. The wider programme will install 15 high‑voltage direct current grid connection systems — eight in the Netherlands and seven in Germany — by 2032, each designed to transmit 2GW of electricity to shore.

The move towards higher‑capacity offshore systems is expected to support national and European climate targets by reducing the number of platforms required at sea, thereby lowering environmental impact. Seatrium will fabricate the topsides across several of its key global yards under its One Seatrium Global Delivery model, with each structure forecast to exceed 30,000 tonnes.

Mammoet will be responsible for moving and loading the platforms using specialist skidding systems designed for heavy, complex structures. The hydraulically compensated skidding equipment selected for the project is engineered to provide precise and controlled movement while limiting structural deflection as the topsides are transferred onto sea‑going vessels.

Richard Verhoeff, global sales director at Mammoet, said: “We are proud to partner with Seatrium for this innovative offshore wind programme, which will support Europe’s ‘net zero’ and energy independent ambitions. Our work is redefining the scale at which these key energy projects can be built. We look forward to using our innovative engineered solutions to load these colossal structures onto transport vessels in a safe and controlled manner.”
