ITP Aero has delivered its first combustor for the Pratt & Whitney PW1500G and PW1900G engines, marking a significant milestone in the company’s contribution to ‘one of the most advanced commercial engine programmes currently in operation’. The delivery follows
Pratt & Whitney’s announcement last June that ITP Aero would become the 21st shop in the GTF MRO network.
ITP Aero says this delivery highlights the company’s proven expertise in combustor technology now being applied to the GTF engines that power the Airbus A220 and Embraer E2 aircraft. “With decades of experience in combustor technology across widebody, business aviation and defence platforms, ITP Aero is now extending its capabilities to support the current generation of narrowbody engines.
“As a risk and revenue sharing partner in Pratt & Whitney’s GTF programme, ITP Aero plays a strategic role in supporting the long-term success of this cutting-edge engine family. The combustor is manufactured at ITP Aero’s UK facility in Hucknall, which has undergone substantial development to meet the rigorous quality and performance standards set by Pratt & Whitney.”
Ability to deliver complex components“This achievement reflects the strength of ITP Aero’s engineering and operational capabilities in the UK, as well as the company’s broader industrial footprint and ability to deliver complex components for high-performance propulsion systems.
Furthermore, ITP Aero is one of the few companies worldwide with the capability to manufacture advanced combustors for both commercial and defence aerospace platforms. The company is also actively engaged in R&T (research and technology) initiatives, in the UK, Spain and at the EU level, focused on next-generation combustor technologies to support sustainable aviation.”
Meanwhile, ITP Aero has completed the acquisition of Aero Norway. Based at Stavanger (Norway), it is a provider of aircraft engine MRO services with ‘a deep specialisation in CFM56 engine overhauls’. ITP Aero says this acquisition aligns with the company focus on strengthening its position in the global aerospace aftermarket, particularly in key large commercial platforms.
