CWIEME Berlin Innovation Zone returns for 2026 CWIEME Berlin, taking place 19-21 May, will significantly expand its Innovation Zone for 2026, creating a dedicated hub for breakthrough technologies shaping the future of electrical engineering and energy systems. Following a stand-out debut last year, the Innovation Zone returns on a larger scale, bringing together 20 start-up companies developing solutions across electrification, energy efficiency and grid modernisation. The expanded feature reflects acceleration industry demand for innovation as manufacturers, utilities and suppliers respond to rapid changes in global energy systems.

As electrification and digitalisation reshape the sector, the Innovation Zone offers a focused environment for discovering technologies that are moving from concept to real-world application. From advanced materials and next-generation components to smarter, more resilient systems, the zone highlights how startups are contributing to solving some of the industry’s most pressing challenges.

The feature was among the most visited areas at the exhibition last year, underlining strong appetite for engineers, buyers and decision-makers to engage directly with emerging innovators and new ideas. The expansion in 2026 signals a broader shift within the industry towards faster adoption of disruptive technologies and closer collaboration between established players and startups.

Innovation is critical

A number of this year’s exhibitors will be attending CWIEME Berlin for the first time, offering fresh perspectives and early access to technology not yet widely available on the market. Melissa Magestro, portfolio director at CWIEME Berlin, said: “Innovation is critical to how our industry responds to growing demands around electrification, efficiency and resilience. The expansion of the Innovation Zone reflects the pace of change we are seeing and the need to connect breakthrough technologies with the companies ready to scale them.”

Gustavo Regueira Llansó, director of strategy and operations at Altrove AI, one of this year’s exhibitors, said: “Events like CWIEME Berlin are crucial for startups like ours. They give us the opportunity to network directly, build meaningful relationships and demonstrate our innovations on a global stage. It is not just about visibility, but it is about becoming part of the conversation that is shaping the future of the industry.”

The 2026 Innovation Zone will also feature a dedicated stage programme, where participating startups will present their technologies through live pitches, offering visitors direct insight into emerging solutions and their real-world applications. It will be a central destination for engineers, buyers and decision makers looking to stay ahead of industry change.
