UK backs Farnborough 2026 with record commitmentThe UK Government has confirmed its largest-ever commitment to the Farnborough International Airshow, reinforcing the event’s status as a flagship forum for defence, aerospace and space engagement when it returns in 2026.

The strengthened government presence underlines Farnborough’s role as a critical platform for advancing the UK’s international relationships with allies and partners, supporting both defence priorities and wider foreign policy objectives. The announcement follows the publication of the Defence Diplomacy Strategy, which names the airshow as one of the UK’s key cultural events for showcasing national capability and turning defence diplomacy into what it describes as a “whole-of-society effort”.

Central to this commitment is the return of the UK Government Hub, introduced successfully in 2024. The Hub will bring together departments and agencies to demonstrate UK expertise, policy leadership, investment frameworks and practical support for organisations operating across aerospace, defence and space.

In 2026, the Hub will convene officials spanning the Ministry of Defence and other departments, including the National Armaments Director Group, the Department for Business and Trade, UK Export Finance, the Department for Transport, the Met Office and the National Wealth Fund, among others. Together, they will provide a focal point for strategic dialogue, collaboration and commercial engagement, reflecting a joined-up approach to supporting industry growth and promoting innovation on a global stage.

The National Armaments Director Group will play a prominent role. As part of the Ministry of Defence, the group is responsible for developing, delivering and sustaining the UK’s national arsenal and defence infrastructure, with a mission to maximise the effectiveness of UK war fighters. Rupert Pearce, the UK’s National Armaments Director and a member of the Defence Board, said the airshow’s convening power was more important than ever.

He said: “In today’s environment, the UK can only deliver the pace, resilience and efficiency we need by building stronger partnerships between government, industry and our allies.

“Our dedicated presence in the UK Government Hub is an important opportunity for the National Armaments Director Group. Our teams will be convening the investors, innovators and manufacturers of all sizes who underpin our national arsenal and sharing how our new operating model will help us deliver the capabilities our military partners need, when and where they need them.”

He added that Farnborough makes a significant strategic contribution as a platform that brings together the UK defence base, towards ensuring the nation remains secure and resilient at home and abroad and highlighted the Hub’s role in welcoming international delegations and strengthening collaboration on investment and export opportunities.

He concluded: “I look forward to meeting many of our current and future defence enterprise partners at the Farnborough International Airshow.”

Financial support for growth will also feature strongly at the show. Following the launch of the Aerospace Global Forum: Finance Summit, the British Business Bank and the National Wealth Fund have confirmed their roles as supporting partners, giving businesses the chance to explore financing options and long-term backing to help them scale in an evolving global market.

Meanwhile, the UK Space Agency will maintain a strong presence in the Space Zone within Hall 4, underlining the growing importance of space to the UK’s industrial and defence strategies.
With what is expected to be the largest international industry and UK Government presence to date, Farnborough 2026 is set to highlight strong global demand to engage at one of the world’s most established airshows.

The show runs from July 20-24 at the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre. Trade visitor ticket sales are now open, with prices starting from £59 plus VAT.
