Dr Robert Best has joined as chief executive officer, Matthew Wethey has been appointed chief financial officer, and Matthew Taylor will join as chief product officer. Together, the trio bring world-class expertise across engineering innovation, operational scale-up, financial leadership, and product commercialisation.

Dr Robert Best joined ETA Green Power with more than 18 years of experience in vehicle and powertrain design, engineering, and manufacturing. He has held senior leadership roles with Queen's University Belfast, Wrights Group, and most recently Wrightbus, where he served as chief technology officer. At Wrightbus, Dr Best led the development of market-leading diesel, hydrogen fuel-cell, and battery-electric buses, helping establish the company as Europe’s number one electric bus manufacturer. He also played a key role in scaling the business from 46 employees in 2019 to more than 2,500 by 2025.
Matthew Wethey joins with more than 25 years of senior financial leadership experience across listed PLCs, private equity-backed organisations, and high-growth technology businesses. A Chartered Accountant (FCA), he has extensive expertise in fundraising, IPOs, investor relations, governance, and scaling finance functions to support growth. His previous leadership roles include CFO positions with Ryze Power Group, EnSilica PLC and PV Crystalox Solar PLC as well as senior finance roles with British American Tobacco, and Unipart Group.
Matthew Taylor joins ETA Green Power as chief product officer, bringing more than 30 years of experience across automotive engineering, vehicle dynamics, electrification, and growth-stage technology businesses. He will lead product strategy and programme delivery for ETA’s integrated electric powertrain portfolio. He has previously held senior engineering and leadership positions with Prodrive, Ricardo PLC, and Jaguar Land Rover, before going on to serve as Managing Director of ClearMotion and Managing Director of ePropelled. He also held the role of chief operating officer at Lyra Electronics.
Mr Taylor said: “Electrification of small transport solutions, particularly in emerging markets, is seeing huge growth. Established and new-entrant manufacturers are looking to implement cost-effective, reliable electric powertrains into their products. ETA’s fully integrated EV powertrain offering significantly reduces risk and time to market while delivering highly competitive efficiency and a market-leading ownership experience.”
