London motor show to launch Built in Britain zone

London motor show to launch Built in Britain zoneThe London International Motor Show 2027 has confirmed a major new feature for next year’s event. The Built in Britain zone has been created to promote and support the companies that design, engineer and build vehicles in the United Kingdom, giving manufacturers of every size a shared platform in the capital.

The zone will bring together under one roof the wide range of what the UK makes. The spread runs from luxury and performance marques and high-volume manufacturing plants, through motorcycle builders, commercial and specialist vehicle makers and the fast-growing restomod and reimagined-classic sector, to the caravan, motorhome and campervan industry that remain overwhelmingly British-built.

The aim is straightforward. UK vehicle manufacturing is a significant employer, exporter and centre of engineering talent, yet its total breadth is rarely shown in one place. Built in Britain will give the household names and the small workshops the same audience, and gives visitors a single destination to see, compare and celebrate vehicles that are made in Britain.

“British vehicle manufacturing is in genuinely good health, and it is far broader than most people realise,” said Stephen Maitland-Oxley, event director of the London International Motor Show 2027. “We build everything in this country, from some of the most desirable cars in the world to the specialist and leisure vehicles that quietly do the heavy lifting every day.

“Built in Britain gives all those makers one platform and one engaged audience. We want visitors to walk through the zone and come away genuinely surprised by how much is designed, engineered and built here.”

The zone has been designed to work for businesses at every scale, from established manufacturers and OEM plants to low-volume specialists, electric-conversion firms and one-off coachbuilders. Exhibitors will be able to reach the public, the trade and the media across the three days of the show.

“We have created Built in Britain so that a global marque and a small specialist can stand in the same zone and reach the same audience, which is rare for an event of this kind,” said Alec Mumford from London International Motor Show. “With Car Culture UK and Motorsport Expo alongside it, the show offers British industry a serious shop window in London. We would encourage any UK maker considering 2027 to talk to us early, while the best space is still available.”
