TaeguTec gets to grips with new hydraulic clamps

TaeguTec gets to grips with new hydraulic clampsThe T-Hychuck from TaeguTec is a new hydraulic chuck line that delivers significantly enhanced clamping force and precision across a wide range of machining applications.

A significant enhancement from its predecessor, the new chuck is fully compatible with the existing product range from TaeguTec.

For manufacturers demanding consistent surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and process reliability, the T-Hychuck tool clamping solution is ideal. Hydraulic chucks are favoured for their vibration-damping properties and ease of use, but TaeguTec's new range significantly improves performance. Featuring a redesigned internal hydraulic mechanism with helical groove geometry and a precision rubber piston actuator, the T-Hychuck family achieves a standard run-out of just 3µm at 3XD with 5µm runout on IDs from 25 to 32mm diameter, and 7µm runout on tool lengths of 150mm or more. This accurate runout and clamping force enhances tool life and greatly reduces vibration.

The range is structured around three distinct variants to address different machining environments. The new THCG (General type) is ideal for high-precision drilling and end mill finishing operations, offering strong clamping characteristics and simple tool changeovers.

The THCS (Slim type) has been designed specifically for narrow, deep-cavity work and situations where interference with the workpiece can be problematic. It is especially recommended for mould and die finishing when manufacturers use ball-nose end mills with long-overhang conditions.

Completing the range is the THCR (Adjustable type), which provides radial run-out adjustment via a set screw, delivering ultra-precision performance down to 0µm.

All three variants are manufactured to a hardness of 58 to 60HRc and are balanced to G2.5 up to 15,000rpm (20,000rpm for HSK-A variants). Bore sizes span from 6 to 32mm diameter across a comprehensive programme of spindle interface options that includes BT30, BT40, BT50, DIN69871 (size 40 and 50), HSK-A 63, HSK-A 100, HSK-E 40, and HSK-E 50. This expansive availability ensures the TaeguTec T-Hychuck integrates readily with virtually every machining centre platform.

The T-Hychuck is a direct phase-in replacement for TaeguTec's previous THC hydraulic chuck line and is fully compatible with existing tooling within that programme. Stocks of the outgoing range will deplete, and customers are advised to transition to the new specification at the earliest opportunity.

To ensure optimum performance, TaeguTec recommends the use of cylindrical shank tools to h6 tolerance, correct clamping screw torque of 5.5Nm across all bore sizes, and adherence to minimum and maximum tool insertion depths.
