Ben Imber benefitted from financial support as part of the scholarship scheme Accu, the Huddersfield-based precision engineering components supplier trusted by 75% of the world's top manufacturers, has expanded its undergraduate scholarship scheme to support the next generation of engineering talent.
Working in partnership with Zero Gravity - a tech company that identifies high-potential students from low-opportunity backgrounds - Accu aims to reach aspiring engineers early in their journey, removing financial barriers and making engineering a more accessible career.
Alastair Morris, UK Managing Director of Accu, said: "We're truly passionate about supporting the next generation of engineers and innovators. We first offered an Accu Scholarship to an under graduate and post graduate student in 2023, but partnering with Zero Gravity allows us to reach students earlier in their journey, when the support matters most. We want to find the students who will benefit most from this grant and help them reach their full potential."
Accu is offering two undergraduate scholarships, providing £3,000, in total paid in annual instalments over three academic years to assist with tuition, accommodation, equipment or travel costs, alongside £100 to spend on Accu precision components for academic or personal projects. Winners will also gain access to potential paid internship opportunities and exposure to Industry 5.0 technology from Accu.
Ben Imber, who has benefited from an Accu Scholarship explains: “The financial support from Accu really did take a lot of worry and burden off my shoulders. It was also great to have funding towards Accu components as part of the rocketry challenge I was working on. I would encourage any engineering student to apply for this, studying can be expensive and the support from Accu really could make all the difference.”
Applications are open now and close on 1 July 2026. To be eligible, students must be UK-based, paying domestic tuition fees, and currently applying for or awaiting enrolment in a full-time undergraduate engineering degree. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a final video interview, with winners announced by the end of August 2026.
