AMCM, one of the leading providers of custom metal 3D printing systems and a subsidiary of
EOS GmbH, has officially opened its new production facility in Weilheim. With this expansion, the company is creating additional capacity for the assembly and commissioning of its large-format additive manufacturing systems, thereby responding to the growing demand for equipment for industrial applications.
The new facility was built in collaboration with the
Bauer Group and enables the parallel assembly of multiple large-scale systems. The official opening of the site marks an important milestone in AMCM’s growth strategy and underscores the close partnership between the two companies. The opening was celebrated together with employees, partners, and representatives of the Bauer Group.
The expansion of production capacity is driven by the growing demand for large-format metal 3D printing systems, including several orders for the AMCM M 8K. With the new facility, AMCM is laying the groundwork to provide even better support to customers in implementing large and highly complex applications.
Martin Bullemer, managing director at AMCM said: “The new assembly facility in Weilheim is an important milestone in AMCM’s growth strategy. With additional capacity and a production environment designed for efficiency, we are creating the conditions to sustainably meet the growing demand for our additive manufacturing systems.”
In the future, the AMCM M 450, AMCM M 4K, and AMCM M 8K or upcoming larger systems will be assembled and commissioned in Weilheim. Depending on the product mix, multiple systems can be set up in parallel. This gives AMCM the flexibility needed to efficiently implement large-scale projects and meet the market’s growing demand.
AMCM’s systems are used in sectors including aerospace, energy, research, and high-performance manufacturing. With the AMCM M 8K, the company offers one of the largest laser powder bed fusion systems for metallic materials. The build volume enables the production of components up to 1.6 metres or taller in a single printing process. The systems are used for applications that are difficult or impossible to achieve with conventional manufacturing processes, including rocket components, heat exchangers, power generation systems, and other highly complex metal components.
The new facility, located in the immediate vicinity of AMCM’s headquarters in Starnberg, offers ideal conditions for assembly, logistics, and commissioning processes. The facility is equipped with high-performance crane systems, including a 10-metric-ton crane with a 25-metre span and an additional 5-metric-ton crane. The project was completed within just two years of the signing of a letter of intent in July 2024. Commissioning took place as scheduled on August 1, 2026.
The collaboration with the Bauer Group arose from long-standing business relationships. A key factor in the project’s success was the pragmatic and solution-oriented cooperation among all parties involved. Both companies aim to expand the partnership over the long term and jointly enable further growth.
With this new facility, AMCM is strengthening its industrial base in Germany and laying the groundwork to continue supporting customers worldwide with highly productive, large-format solutions for additive manufacturing.
