Walter presents Xill·tec Aero solid carbide cutters Walter has now expanded its milling cutter portfolio with the introduction of the new Xill·tec Aero solid carbide cutters MC331/MC333 Advance. This impressive addition to the milling portfolio offers manufacturers a universal tool solution tailored to the requirements of the aerospace industry.

Following the successful launch of the MC230 Advance for steel, Walter now has two specialist cutters in its range – the MC331 Advance without a chip breaker and the MC333 Advance with a chip breaker. This provides a clear focus on stainless steel, super-alloys, and titanium within the ISO material groups M and S.

The basic principles of the new range that deliver outstanding results when machining aerospace-typical titanium alloys such as Ti6Al4V or stainless steels such as 316L is the universal grade WK40EA. This high-performance carbide grade combines with an innovative geometry that features a differential pitch, which is specially tailored to these materials. In combination with the high-end carbide composition and the groundbreaking geometry, the new MC331/MC333 Advance ensures exceptional operational smoothness and surface quality even when machining at elevated cutting parameters.

Walter offers the milling cutters with a five or seven-flute (z5/z7) variant in metric sizes ranging from Ø6 to 25mm, with or without corner radius or chip breaker. In addition, the series is presented with a selection of cutting lengths from 2 to 5XDc, enabling the option of extremely rigid high-performance machining as well as the longer additional reach options for machining difficult-to-access surfaces.

The new MC331/MC333 Advance are well suited to dynamic milling with high material removal rates. Simultaneously, the tools are perfect for finishing operations such as shoulder machining, making the MC331/MC333 perfect all-rounders for your business.

In addition to the aerospace sector, Walter cites the energy and medical sectors as typical areas of use. Both the MC331 Advance and the MC333 Advance are suitable for reconditioning to reduce carbide costs and consumption. The Tübingen-based company offers custom dimensions via the Walter Xpress Service.
