Enginuity Skills Awards 2027 open for entriesNominations are now open for the Enginuity Skills Awards 2027, in partnership with Babcock, celebrating excellence in engineering and manufacturing skills development across the UK.

Now in their 13th year, the awards recognise individuals and organisations making a significant contribution to skills, training and workforce development within the sector. Entries are open until 20 December 2026, with winners to be announced at a gala ceremony in London in June 2027.

The awards acknowledge achievements across a range of categories, including apprentices, T Level students, training providers, employers and skills programmes. Winners in the apprentice and student categories will receive £1,000, while three additional finalists in each category will be awarded £500.

Finalists will be invited to attend the awards ceremony at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London on 30 June 2027, bringing together leaders from industry, education and government to celebrate achievement and share best practice.

Ann Watson MBE, CEO of Enginuity, said: “Across engineering and manufacturing, the demand for new capabilities is accelerating. The Enginuity Skills Awards gives us an important opportunity to recognise the people turning that challenge into progress, building confidence, opening pathways into rewarding careers, and equipping businesses for the future.”

She added: “By sharing their achievements, we hope to inspire even more individuals and organisations to invest in the skills our sector needs to thrive.”

Ms Watson also thanked the event's partners, highlighting the contribution of headline partner Babcock and platinum partners BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce in supporting the development of engineering and manufacturing talent.

Jennifer McElhinney, chief people officer at Babcock, said the company was committed to developing the future workforce through apprenticeships, graduate programmes, STEM outreach and early-career initiatives.

“Through our investment in apprenticeships, graduate programmes, STEM outreach, and early careers initiatives, Babcock is committed to helping build the skilled, diverse, and resilient workforce the UK needs,” she said. “We look forward to working with Enginuity to shine a spotlight on the individuals and programmes making a real difference across our sector.”

BAE Systems, sponsor of the SME Employer Skills Champion of the Year award, also stressed the importance of recognising smaller businesses that are driving skills development.

Richard Hamer, HR director for education and skills at BAE Systems, said: “We partner with more than 2,000 SMEs across the UK and understand first-hand the invaluable contribution they make to the engineering and manufacturing sector, bringing specialist skills, innovative thinking, and delivery at pace.”

Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce, sponsor of the New Talent Inspiration Programme of the Year category, highlighted the importance of encouraging the next generation of engineers.

Neil Mantle, director of manufacturing engineering and materials at Rolls-Royce, said: “Developing the next generation of engineering talent is essential to the future of our industry, and these awards are a brilliant way to celebrate the people, programmes and ideas shaping that future.”

Enginuity, a charity focused on addressing skills shortages in engineering and manufacturing, says the awards play an important role in highlighting best practice and encouraging wider investment in skills development across the sector.
