Mirka expands with the addition of Abranet HCX range

Mirka expands with the addition of Abranet HCX range Mirka is expanding its innovative net sanding range with the launch of the new Abranet HCX abrasive, available in 125mm and 150mm discs as well as 115mm x 10m rolls and in 40–400 grits. This new abrasive line-up has been developed to provide users with a product that can handle multiple industrial surfaces such as gelcoat, fibreglass, filler, epoxy, and epoxy-based coatings. It also combines speed and control for a fast and consistent finish and increases the productivity of the process as the abrasive achieves larger initial material removal and a reduction in deep scratches that could lead to costly reworks.

Abranet HCX has been developed to provide a balance of material removal and surface control, helping reduce the risk of sand-through, visible sanding marks and downstream rework. This is especially important for manufacturers where controlling the sanding process is particularly important, as defects can lead to additional preparation, refinishing or delays further down the production process.

The grits Abranet HCX is available in showcases the breadth of the line-up. The coarse grits (40-150) provide users with aggressive stock removal, and the finer grits in the range (P180-P400) have been designed by the R&D team to deliver a controlled scratch pattern and to minimise the risk of sanding scratches showing through the final finish. In addition, it delivers a dust-free sanding experience when used in conjunction with the Mirka DEROS and the DEXOS extractor, which protects the worker and reduces the risk of dust in the air and contaminating surfaces being worked on.

Chris Brook, business sector manager, Industrial Manufacturing, Mirka UK, said: “As a business, we believe it’s about giving professionals the right abrasive for the job, particularly where both productivity and surface quality matter. This is where Abranet HCX comes into its own. This new abrasive provides fast material removal with excellent control and ensures users achieve a high-quality finish while reducing the risk of deep scratches, defects and rework. We are looking forward to seeing it being an asset on the workshop floor from day one.”
