#welding #engineering #ukmfg Hydraulic-cylinder manufacturer Sahgev has installed a friction welding machine from Halesowen-based Thompson
(www.thompson-friction-welding.com) at its factory in France. The refurbished PR-series machine is being used to join a range of chromed-bar piston rods with diameters from 20 to 60mm.
It features a twin-axis flash removal device, a two-jaw chuck and quick-change non-marking tooling. The Sahgev plant at Gevigney produces more than 300,000 cylinders a year for customers that include Claas and John Deere. It employs 200 people and has a turnover of 27 million euros.
Sales and marketing manager Pierre-Antoine Quivogne says: “This machine will help us diversify and win more business from customers in the construction machine market.”
