Novelis invests in closed-loop recycling

@Novelis #engineering #manufacturing Novelis is to invest £6 million in its Latchford facility near Warrington. A spokesman for the aluminium rolling and recycling business said the investment will make the facility the largest closed-loop recycling operation for automotive aluminium rolled products in Europe. Novelis said the move is driven by demand for automotive aluminium sheet, particularly from Jaguar Land Rover.

The plant near Warrington currently employs 135 people and processes 160,000 tonnes of aluminium annually. The investment will take the capacity to 220,000 tonnes and will create more than 30 additional full-time jobs.

Erwin Mayr, president of Novelis Europe, said: “We are expanding our recycling capabilities and developing efficient manufacturing systems along our automotive supply chain. Responding to the realities of our increasingly resource-constrained world and demands for a more sustainable economy, Novelis is transforming its business model to be largely based on closed-loop recycling.”
