Hinckley-based Triumph has been named as the manufacturer of the UK’s best-selling large-capacity (500cc and over) motorcycles for the third year in a row. According to figures from the Motorcycle Industry Association, last year saw the Leicestershire company increase its ‘big bike’ sales from 7,488 in 2012 to 7,524.
Its market share also increased from 19.4% to 19.6%. The last 12 months have seen the successful introduction of a number of new models, including the luxury Tourer, the Trophy 1200 and updates to the Daytona 675, the Tiger Sport and the Street Triple. Overall, the company sold a total 52,089 bikes in the year to 30 June.
Rick Cawley, general manager of Triumph UK, said: “Undoubtedly, our single-minded dedication to developing new models is reflected in our success in the UK and our growing market share around the globe.”
