It was announced at last month’s GrindTec exhibition in Augsburg that Feinmechanik Michael Deckel GmbH (
www.michael-deckel.de) — the Upper Bavarian tool-grinding machine specialist founded in 1950 — will in future be called ISOG (Innovative Grinding Solutions).
The two managing directors who have been running the company since December — Martin Sackmann and Thomas Seyßler — want to convince both domestic and foreign customers that the firm can be relied on once again after its recent difficulties.
The motto “We are learning from our users” emphasises that the business culture of ISOG includes more communication, better service and higher quality. For example, tolerances have been halved, a three-day acceptance test for each grinding system has been introduced, and the ‘service help-desk hot-line’ has been improved, with staff given issue-related training.
ISOG has decided to gradually convert all machines to Fanuc control running with MTS software; the 31i-B5 control is said to result in surface quality that is at least twice as good as that achieved before.
