
With direct linear drives on all main axes, the new six-axis Ewamatic Linear tool grinder from Walter Ewag UK Ltd, Kenilworth (
www.walter-machines.com), offers traverse speeds up to 20m/min in X, Y and Z, as well as enhanced machine dynamics for improved productivity.
The machine has a work envelope of 380 x 245 x 240mm and a 7.5kW spindle drive; it incorporates ProGrind and NumrotoPlus grinding software for the programming of rotationally symmetrical tooling with diameters from 0.2 to 200mm; it can also grind indexable inserts.
It features a six-position grinding-wheel spindle station for wheels up to 300mm in diameter (wheel change takes just 2sec) and an integrated wheel-dressing unit.
An optional six-axis Fanuc robot cell equipped with HSK63 loader carousel can accommodate up to 100 tools; it can also include laser marking as an option. In addition, a range of clamping stations (including bespoke systems) can be accommodated for both round tooling and indexable inserts.
