Taiwan-based Concraft, which specialises in the design and production of connectors for the electronics industry, employs about 1,900 people in China and Singapore.
Over the past three years, it has installed 13 EDM machines from GF Machining Solutions (
www.gfms.com) — including four Form 20 die-sinking EDM machines.
Agi Lee, Concraft general manager, says: “Quality and performance are particularly important to us. We expect our EDM machines to achieve high levels of detail and homogenous surface quality, as well as have the ability to produce small radii, which we check by microscope. We also do quality checks with our co-ordinate measuring machines.”
In its moulding division, Concraft achieves product tolerances of less than 0.01mm; the company also produces complex moulds — with as many as 32 cavities for connectors and 520 cavities for LED frames.
